In Summa Technologiae (1964), Stanislaw Lem made a thorough philosophical exploration of the VR, and his observations are valid still today. In 1965, Ivan Sutherland published the concept of VR goggles and 3 years later produced a prototype. Half a century after these breakthroughs, we are in the midst of new artistic, social, economic and political dynamics of the VR. This panel focuses on contemporary aspects and potentials of the VR, aiming to motivate informed, critical thinking and to promote creative research in the VR, rather than to be didactic.
