I’m one of those kids who grew up with a pull-string cowboy doll in one hand, a space ranger in the other, and was scared/amazed by the TRex of Jurassic Park. Seeing as reconstructing dinosaur DNA from some fossilized bloodsuckers looked harder than I expected, I studied 3D Computer Science of molecular biology, hoping that one day, the animation & VFX industry would welcome me in spite of my poor artistic skills.
After 3 years as an R&D engineer at the INRIA (French National Research Institute in Computer Science), working on state-of-the-art human AI and procedural animation, we co-founded a company called Golaem with some other folks from the lab.
In 2011, we released Golaem Crowd, a crowd simulation and layout tool suite for VFX and 3D animation. Our customers include Digital Domain, ScanlineVFX, Dreamworks, RodeoFX, Digic Pictures amongst many others. In 2019, we were honored with a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for Crowd Simulation Tools, with an Innovation Cesar from the French Academy of Cinema in 2020 and with an Outstanding Engineering Emmy Awards in 2021. In 2024, Golaem was acquired by Autodesk where we plan to bring crowds to everybody.

Quotes
"There are a lot of amazing companies that popped up here in Serbia. I was excited to come and meet these brands and amazing brains that work in computer science and CG, and to connect with some of them."
Nicolas Chaverau
"Why do I come back? Because I miss three-dimensional people. I am sick of Zoom meetings, and I love to interact with people, and just feel their energy. There is no better time for this conference to take place, because I see so many of my colleagues and friends who are concerned about their future in animation, and pursuing jobs in animation. Yet, I feel like this conference gives us hope back and we can see more hopeful pathways towards the future."
Dragana Stamenković
"CGA is a good platform where people from the creative industries and technologies can come together, discuss, exchange ideas, and eventually envision the future. Such events are kind of a catalyst for future changes."
Aleksey Golubitsky
“I always have a brilliant time at CGA, and it's because of the whole experience - the venue, the programme, and the way that CGA's team looks after their guests. It is always fun, and I have met a lot of really good people from other countries thanks to CGA - probably more than any other conference I have attended.”
Andrew Brassington
"There are so many professionals in one place at the same time. The exchange of ideas, some very valuable, you just cannot miss. This is a great opportunity to build your network, and the more people you can cooperate with, the better your chances to succeed globally."
Elena Shchichkina
"The conference is great. It has many benefits, one of them being a place where most of us introverts get together to introvertly mingle without being bothered by extroverts. It's really a platform where all the artists and people from the industry come together."
Ivan Vasiljević
“CGA is awesome and very important for the entire community. Apart from phenomenal lectures, I believe the greatest value of this particular conference is networking and getting to know other people who are working on similar projects.”
Sava Živković
“CGA is invaluable for the local community. Every time, I’m pleasantly surprised by the caliber of the lectures, and an additional pleasure is the excellent mix of world experts and local stars. A bonus fact to the quality and professionalism of the CGA conference is its constant growth and even greater ambitions.”
Nikola Damjanov
“Events like this one are fundamentally important for the community and community is for industry. It’s a circle of life!”
